When You Reach the Edge
Sometimes the edge is asking you to pause.
Sometimes it's inviting you to step into who you're becoming.

Drops From The WELL

We all meet an edge at some point in our lives.
Sometimes it’s the edge of a difficult conversation.
Sometimes it’s the edge of a life-changing decision.
Sometimes it’s the edge of an old habit that no longer serves us.
Sometimes it’s the edge between reacting…
and responding.
Some edges invite us to pause.
Others invite us to leap.
The spiritual work is learning to discern the difference.
For many years, I’ve been a devoted spiritual practitioner.
I pray, meditate, journal, and return to the Divine every day because I know the Divine is both my Source and my resource.
And I’m still human.
I still meet my own edges.
The difference is that today, I no longer see those moments as failures.
I see them as information.
The edge becomes information, not just a crisis.
That single awareness has changed my life.
The Gift Hidden Within the Edge
When we reach an edge, our first instinct is often to escape it.
Push through.
Pull back.
Fight.
Quit.
Blame.
React.
But what if the edge is actually trying to show us something?
What if it’s revealing a pattern that is no longer sustainable?
What if it’s inviting us to become someone new?
Sacred traditions speak often of the number forty.
Forty days in the wilderness.
Forty days of preparation.
Forty days of transformation.
Forty days to change a habit.
Last year, I fasted for forty days. It changed me in ways I never expected.
I started the fast thinking, I knew what needed to change.
The Divine had something much deeper in mind.
Perhaps that's what forty days really offers us—not simply the chance to change a habit, but the opportunity to discover who we're becoming.
A forty-day practice will break a habit like nobody's business.
If your edge is inviting you into something new...
What could you commit to for the next forty days?
Whether forty days is literal or not, the principle is timeless.
Real change takes devotion.
It takes repetition.
It takes choosing a new way long enough for it to become who we are.
Sometimes the edge isn’t telling us to change our circumstances.
Sometimes it’s asking us to change our patterns.
Risk, Courage & Character
As entrepreneurs, parents, caregivers, leaders, and human beings, we’re continually asked to grow.
Growth always involves risk.
I’ve been an entrepreneur since I was nineteen.
I’ve learned that courage doesn’t appear after confidence.
It’s the other way around.
Courage builds confidence.
Confidence builds character.
Character is built long before life tests it.
That’s why the practices we cultivate every day matter.
Prayer.
Meditation.
Journaling.
Exercise.
Time in nature.
Acts of generosity.
Moments of stillness.
These practices don’t simply make life more peaceful.
They prepare us for the moments when life asks us to do something difficult.
When I Reached My Own Edge
Recently, I found myself at one.
After weeks of serving clients, caring for my family, and giving more than I had been replenishing, I reacted from depletion, rather than from my center.
I didn’t like that I let a circumstance push me to that edge.
Yet, I was grateful for what I learned.
The edge wasn’t punishing me.
It was revealing something.
It showed me where my boundaries and practices had blurred.
Where I had been over-giving.
Where I had quietly relaxed, caring for myself as faithfully as I care for everyone else.
It reminded me of something I know—but sometimes forget.
I cannot pour from an empty WELL.
So I made myself a promise.
I will prioritize myself.
Not because I matter more than anyone else…
But because I know this, I cannot serve well if I continually bypass my own values in the process.
Sometimes the greatest act of discernment is recognizing that what brought us to this moment will not carry us into what’s next.
The edge is the threshold where awareness becomes transformation.
Light Is Information
One of the practices that helps me most when I’m standing at an edge is bringing more light into my awareness.
White light.
Golden light.
Diamond light.
Blue light.
Whatever image resonates with you.
Because I have seen that light is information.
When we’re disconnected from our spirit, it’s like trying to live with a depleted battery.
Everything feels heavier.
Everything feels harder.
When we reconnect with our Source of Light, we don’t necessarily change our circumstances overnight.
But the Light helps us begin to see them more clearly.
And clarity changes everything.
A Time of Transition
Whether you follow astrology or not, many people are sensing that we are living through a season of profound change.
Mercury, the planet of communication, is now moving directly out of its retrograde cycle.
Projects begin moving again.
Conversations become clearer.
Momentum slowly returns.
Even so, wisdom reminds us not to rush.
Sometimes clarity arrives all at once.
Sometimes it settles gently over time.
Either way, discernment asks us to listen before we leap.
Reflection
As we move through this season together, I invite you to spend a little time with these questions.
Where in your life are you standing at an edge?
What might that edge be trying to teach you?
What pattern is asking to be released?
What quality is asking to grow stronger?
And perhaps the deepest question of all…
Who are you at the edge of your own becoming?
Because every meaningful transition asks us to leave something behind.
Not as punishment.
As preparation.
What or who is your edge asking you to leave behind?
Follow your edge respectfully, and you just might find your next creative leap. I am curious to see where the Divine is leading me, are you?
If you’re standing at an edge right now, remember this:
The edge is not your enemy.
It isn’t punishment.
It isn’t failure.
It is information.
Pause.
Breathe.
Bring more light into your awareness.
Listen deeply.
Then ask yourself…
Is this the edge asking me to wait…
Or is the edge inviting me to leap?
Trust that the answer is already beginning to rise within you.
