One of the most powerful influencers you have, is on your face. Your mouth. Your mouth can determine your fate, your faith and your fortune.
We use our mouths daily to express, through sound and words, our preferences, likes and dislikes.
Through challenges and changes, people use language to describe feelings. Language is composed of sounds that form words. Words are used to communicate. Communication is what helps to bridge relationships or tear them apart.
Through a prayer, you can reach the Divine.
Through a song, you can tell a story.
Through an incantation, you can invoke the powers of good or evil.
Through a statement one can induce the emotion of love or fear or anything in between.
What you say matters.
Through media we see the effect that the spoken word has on our humanity.
Recently, I observed a person in a powerful position of authority, be incredibly sloppy with his language to the point of eroding his credibility and creating division amongst the people.
A leader or a speaker has a duty to set a good example of what is possible. His reputation and his influence will be his legacy. But, what if you don't see yourself as a leader? Let me assure you, every day you are leading by what you say to yourself, those in passing and your social circles.
One of the statements that John Maxwell, Leadership Guru, says in his book the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, "It takes years to build a good reputation and only seconds to knock it down." Your oral communication will be one of the biggest contributions to your life experience.
The right use of language is a responsibility and power. It can make or destroy you.
Early on my spiritual path, I learned the value of affirmations for speaking life into life. I found that most of the great spiritual masters were mindful teachers of the conscious use of language. It is not just about affirmation, but about being aware on how you are speaking about your experience to others and to yourself. You are either creating or destroying life with your words.
The Master Teacher Yeshua Ben Josef said, "It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles the body, but what comes out of it."
Words are energy that create health or disease. Prosperity or poverty. Love or fear. Unity or separation.
When you are feeling overwhelmed or stressed through times of challenge and change, speak into life what you are choosing to experience. Find ways to talk about your experience in ways that affirm what you want to experience. Finally, give the gift of life to others by lifting them up through affirmative language.
Though the world can seem harsh and circumstances dire sometimes, just speaking life giving words into a person or an environment or a political climate can be powerful enough to bring a wave of positive change to a world in need of a reminder.
if you don't like the way things are going, find a way to speak about it in a way that will help you adjust to a more positive outcome.
